Walking A Path of Self Love
As Jen shares her story of going from overwhelm and over working to trusting her inner voice and learning to love herself more, she leads other professional women in Taiwan to walk a similar path of self-love!
We asked her a few questions and here is what this courageous woman shared with us! If you have any questions you want to ask her, please put them in the comments below.
1. Tell us a little bit about who you are and your journey toward self-love.
My name is Jen Yang, and I live in Taipei, Taiwan.
Being raised and taught in a perfectionist Asian family, for most of my life, I had been operating on the default mode of “aiming for the next goal to get your life right”. Pushing through things was the only way I knew how to prove my worth. In order to gain external recognition in a highly competitive environment, I risked my well-being and put myself in a position of being constantly overworked, overwhelmed and over stressed without being aware.
One day, I suddenly lost my hearing. Thank god, the near deaf experience was temporary (lasted 3-4 months), but the abrupt disconnection from the outer world, the dead silence was forcing me to look within. I was shocked to realize that I had no idea who I was. I slowly pieced myself back together from feeling like a total failure, feeling completely lost and miserable, to being willing to unlearn what I had learned. I reconnected with the parts in me that felt foreign and long forgotten.
It’s been a humbling journey thus far, and I am absolutely grateful for the path that I’m on. I now, help professional women who feel constantly swamped, anxious, stuck and tired of where they are at, how they feel about themselves or struggling in relationships with others and are looking for personal transformation made simple to feel liberated, peaceful and empowered.
2. Why does self-love matter to you?
Self love matters, because if I reject who I am, and refuse to give myself the chance to learn how to love the parts of me that are difficult to be loved, how can I give love to others or expect others to love me as I am?
3. Why were you drawn to the Path of Self Love School?
The term self love can sound broad and abstract. I am someone who learns in a practical, structured way and the Path of Self Love School was able to put self-love into practical concepts. I was able to practice and integrate the tools into my daily life, which was exactly what I was looking for. I am so grateful to POSL!!
4. How do you use the self-love technology in your own work?
I weave the technology into my 1-on-1 sessions with beloveds and teaching to the International MBA students in the University of Taipei Technology in Taiwan.
5. How has your work changed since using the self-love technology?
When my beloveds use the tools as part of the daily practice, I can see changes taking place, especially in the areas of building greater self-trust, self-compassion and self-acceptance. They are delighted to receive their inner shift. 🙂
I can see changes taking place,
especially in the areas of building greater self-trust,
self-compassion and self-acceptance!
It has been amazing watching Jen go into the University and teach women ways to take off the pressure, stop the overwhelm and stress and tune into their inner wisdom, joy and trust. Jen has been a loving part of our community throughout the years and always brings a wonderful calm and accepting presence to class.
